MEET THE TEAM
Stephen Ruffin
 
Actor

Stephen Ruffin stars as 25 year-old Lazarus Augustus in Edge of the Pier. Ruffin is a stage, TV and film actor from Atlanta, GA with recent lead roles at the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern, the Alliance Theater, and Synchronicity Theater.

He has appeared on the hit television series, Sleepy Hollow, and in numerous national TV ads including such clients as the NBA and Navicent Health. Ruffin is a graduate of the University of Florida School of Theatre and Dance.

Born in Washington, DC and raised in Prince George's County, MD, Teo Melchishua Williams (aka Tewodross Melchishua) is an award winning producer, professor, filmmaker, animator, motion graphics/visual effects and video projection designer. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his work in animation such as The SONY Innovator's Award in animation; First Place winner for animation from The Maafa Film & Video Festival, The Paul Robeson Award in Film and Video, The Annual Rosebud Independent Film & Video Competition. He produces works in film and animation through his digital media studio collective Visual Jazz, located in the Art Lives Here Business Incubator, in Mount Rainier, just inside the Gateway Arts district of Prince George's County, MD. 

D. Amari Jackson is the writer, producer and an executive producer of the film, Edge of the Pier. A media specialist, published author and award-winning journalist with over a decade of national experience, Amari was the 2002-2003 recipient of the George Washington Williams Fellowship from the Independent Press Association, a former Chief of Staff for a NJ State Senator, and a former Senior Vice President for The Jamestown Project, a Harvard University-based nonprofit. Born in New York and raised in Orange, NJ, Amari is author of the novel, The Savion Sequence (Brand Nu Words, 2011). His writings and articles have appeared in a wide variety of national and regional publications.

Harvey Nunes
 
Actor/Executive Producer

 Harvey has been in the entertainment industry as a freelance television producer, videographer, voice personality, master of ceremonies and professional deejay for more than 20 years. As a producer and videographer, Mr. Nunes specializes in sports/news and has worked with many organizations and athletes including: CBS, BET, HBO Sports, Howard University Television, Marion Jones, Allan Iverson, Laila Ali and Rod Woodson to name a few. He is a graduate from the Howard School of Communications and received a certificate of completion for NYU's School of Contiuing Education Film Video and Broadcasting

 Charisse is a  writer, speaker and literary advocate, and is the award-winning author of the children’s books, I Am Barack Obama (2009), I Dream for You a World: A Covenant for Our Children (2007) and Nappy (2006), as well as Songs of a Sistermom: Motherhood Poems (2004).  I Am Barack Obama won a 2009 Honor Award from Skipping Stones Multicultural Magazine. Charisse is the Executive Producer of The Book Look, an online TV show and digital property that connects African-American readers, authors, celebrities and literary events.  A graduate of Harvard Law School, where  she was a schoolmate of President Obama and a former poet laureate of her alma mater Lincoln University, Charisse has been a featured blogger on News One and a speaker or presenter for numerous national and regional organizations.  

Dominic has been an editor in the Washington, D.C. area for more than 10 years, working for clients ranging from TV One to Mercedes-Benz of Arlington, to the Human Rights Project for Girls.  Although he has primarily cut short form projects, Edge of the Pier is his first short film.  He is currently a promo editor with the Investigation Discovery Channel in Silver Spring, MD.  He graduated from the School of Journalism at University of Maryland, College Park.
